French toast sticks aren't just for kids anymore... they're for the whole family! These gourmet vegan cinnamon French toast sticks are an easy way to feed a group since you can pop them in the oven and walk away, instead of standing at the stove all morning. This is a fun and delicious breakfast that can even be eaten on the go!

I also chose to make these Vegan Cinnamon French Toast Sticks without egg substitutes to cut down on costs, time, and effort. Let me know if you try this recipe by dropping a comment below!

Ingredients:

  • 5 slices of thick sandwich bread (I recommend Sarah Lee Texas Toast)

  • 1 cup of unsweetened dairy-free milk

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp agave nectar

  • Syrup for topping

  • More cinnamon for topping

Directions:

  • Preheat the oven to 425° F.

  • Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet and set aside.

  • Slice the bread: cut the crust off of the sides, but leave it on the top and bottom, then slice each piece of bread into 4 strips.

  • Add the milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar in a shallow bowl and whisk to combine.

  • Quickly dunk a strip of bread into the milk until it's just coated. You want to do this quickly so the bread doesn't become soggy. Place it on the baking sheet.

  • Bake immediately for 5 minutes, flip all the bread over, and bake for another 3 minutes.

  • Remove them from the oven and serve immediately.

Tips and Tricks:

  • I would highly recommend using parchment paper for this recipe. I tried placing them on a greased baking sheet and they got really stuck. Same thing happened with a glass baking dish. So parchment paper is the way to go!

  • You can also cook these on the stove. Heat a frying pan over medium heat, melt a tiny bit of vegan butter in the pan, and cook the sticks for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are slightly browned.
